eveloping
relationships with our patients is a key objective
in our approach
to treatment. Ochoco
Community Clinic providers take a multi-dimensional
approach
to treatment. We transform health care so that it
addresses physical,
environmental, mental, emotional and social health.
Our patients are taught,
when necessary, skills for changes in lifestyles
and self-care; we use conventional drugs and perform
minor surgery. And, we search for the underlying
cause of a patient’s illness, which is preferable
to treating symptoms alone.
That’s why the development of patient relationships
is so critical at Ochoco Community Clinic.
We believe that the ideal physician-patient relationship
considers
the needs, desires, awareness and insight of the
patient as well as those of the physician. As unusual
as it may seem, illness and pain can be learning
opportunities for patients and physicians.
We firmly believe that optimal health is much more
than the absence of sickness. Rather,
it is the pursuit and
attainment of the
highest levels of the physical,
environmental,
mental,
emotional, spiritual, and social aspects of the human
experience.
Crook County has one of the highest poverty levels
in the state of Oregon and an unemployment rate of
over 10 percent. The high numbers of uninsured persons
coupled with the linguistic and cultural barriers
of the
Hispanic and Latino population have created an extremely
high need for accessible services of the type we
provide.
It is precisely these people who use Ochoco Community
Clinic because of our non-exclusionary policy of
serving the medical and mental-health needs of everyone,
regardless of their ability to pay.
If you fall below the
poverty level, or if you are insured, uninsured
or under-insured, you may qualify
for treatment at the clinic. And, if you have Medicaid,
Oregon Health Plan, Medicare, or commercial insurance,
you are also welcome to use our services. We
have no exclusionary policy.
